Common types of roofs
The most common types of roof are:
- Slab roofs
- Ramp roofs
- Square roofs
- Multi-step roofs
- Stack roofs
With the exception of stacking roofs, all of these roofs are found around the town as they likely credit with improving building health with the same certian benefits as air filtration, heating, and dewatering.
There are basically three types of slabs:
The first type shows it’s basic form: A solid metal plate screwed onto a framework made of wood decking. It holds the roof in place and adds strength by preventing gaps in the roof.
Slabs are found on any given building throughout the city; usually it’s the largest ones that have the most use. Every box structure has a roof and a slab preventing us from climbing in the early days when there was no town to explore.
The least common type of slab was built locally and is often ignored, said to be common on dilapidated warehouses in industrial areas, and even abandoned buildings that became “public housing.”
Ramps have holes that allow for regular foot traffic. This allows the roof to open and give access to rooms. While it does make it a bit more complicated to get in and out of, with proper planning and planning permission from the zoning board, you can have a ramp leading to or from the roof.
Ramps are found on any number of buildings, but are often found in the basement or upper story of single-family houses with multiple stories.
The raw material for all of the roofs has to come from somewhere. While the industrial areas have large piles of steel, that isn’t the case for every town.
